Jan served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at CHC for over 30 years. Prior to the COO position, Jan was the Director of the Diagnostic Center. She was named CEO in February 2018. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Akron. During her tenure, Jan has been very active with CHC, she sits on a variety of committees, staffs the CHC board committees and serves on the CHC Board of Directors as well as the CHC Foundation Board of Directors. She is a member of the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers, Ohio Alliance of Recovery Providers, Summit County Opiate Task Force, Summit County Community Partnership and United Way Addiction Leadership Council. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Johnson started at CHC in August 2013. He is responsible for assessing patients and the prescribing of medications for treatment of a variety of use disorders and evaluation of patients for admission to residential treatment. He works in close association with counselors to provide the best care plans in treatment of our patients. Administrative duties include developing new programs at CHC and continued quality improvement. Dr. Johnson has a BS and MD degree from The Ohio State University. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Akron City Hospital with additional training in addiction medicine and completed his board certification in 1985. He was in private practice for 18 years in Alliance, OH. He moved to Bowling Green, OH in 2001 where he joined the clinical teaching faculty at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. He then sought additional training in addiction medicine at the University of Michigan and completed his board certification in 2014. His interests include teaching medical students, residents and fellows, motorcycle riding, travel, and spending time with family and is the medical director for 4 OBOT clinics.
Chief Financial Officer
Michelle joined CHC Addiction Services in 2018. As the CFO, her general duties include financial reporting and compliance, asset, treasury and risk management. Michelle has a BBA from Baldwin-Wallace University, an MBA from John Carroll University and a CNM (Certificate in Nonprofit Management) from Case Western Reserve University. She previously worked as Finance Chief for area non-profits for 15 years and spent 10 years in Construction and Property Management. Michelle enjoys challenges and finding creative solutions, so she’s excited to be working in Behavioral Health!
Dawn Y. Carter, EdS, MAEd, LPCC-S, LICDC-CS
Dawn joined CHC Addiction Services in May, 2018 with over 25 years of experience in the mental health and addictions field. As Clinical Director she is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of clinical programs and services. She works directly with the Directors of Admissions, Intensive Outpatient Services, Adolescent Services and Residential Services. Dawn received her Education Specialist degree in Counseling from Kent State University; her master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of Akron; and her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Carson-Newman University. She is a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisory endorsement and a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor with clinical supervisory endorsement. She has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Akron and Kent State University. She has presented at state and local conferences on mental health and addiction. She is a past recipient of the Louis D. Kacalieff, M.D. Award for Staff Contribution at Child Guidance & Family Solutions, the Jill Dickie Innovation in Counseling Award at Family Solutions, and the Distinguished Service Award for Counselor Supervisors from the Ohio Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. She is a member of the American Counseling Association. Her clinical passions include clinical supervision, treating co-occurring disorders, and sand tray therapy. In her free time, she and her husband, Steve, love to travel South to spend time with their family and grandson, Judah.

Melissa joined CHC in May of 2018. She oversees the housing division of CHC which includes over 180 units of housing for homeless and disabled individuals and families as well as seniors aged 62 and over. Melissa has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Akron. She has over 20 years of experience with housing and program development. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and has recently become a certified scuba diver.

Barbara Van Dike has worked at Community Health Center since 1979, becoming the Director of Human Resources in 1988. During her 30+ year history with the agency she has been a part of growing our staff from 30 to 175 professionals. In addition to human resources, Barb manages the benefits program for the agency.
In addition to her role at CHC, Barb is very civically involved in the community. She has served as councilperson for the Village of Mogadore since 2007.
Rebecca (Becky) Mason

Becky has worked in the field of addictions for the past 33 years as a counselor, coordinator, department director and administrator. In 1996, after 6 years of service at CHC, Becky left to work at another agency but returned 2 years later and has been here for 20 years since that time. She manages oversight of the medical and behavioral health operations of a 500 patient Medication-Assisted Treatment program. This includes coordination of programs and patients within CHC departments and personnel along with maintaining compliance with multiple external entities such as SAMHSA, OHMAS, Joint Commission, DEA, and the State of Ohio Pharmacy Board. Becky has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Miami University, Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with Clinical Supervision credential (LICDC-CS). She has served on several committees over the years and has won CHC staff awards. She was also a part-time instructor at the University of Akron. Becky enjoys reading, hiking, collecting antiques and hanging out with family, friends, and her dog, Zoey. She is also on the women’s leadership team at her church.

Diane joined CHC in October of 2017. She works with leadership and board members to design, implement and evaluate CHC’s development plan and special events. Diane has a BA in Communication from Capital University, and a Master of Public Administration from The University of Akron. She has worked in fundraising, program development and evaluation, and grant management for non-profit and academic organizations in Northeast and Central Ohio. Diane enjoys spending time with her family, and their dog Scout and Tacet the cat.

Jackie joined CHC Addiction Services in March of 1982 as their first intake worker. She works closely with every program in the agency and referral sources for clients to have the proper level of care. Jackie has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Akron. In her free time, she is an avid gardener and knitter. She is also the president of a local women’s service club, Pilot Club of Akron.
Facility Operations Director
A couple of his many job duties include, managing the Environmental Services department and supervising the security team. Chuck has an AutoCAD certification from The University Of Akron and is a Graduate of the Facility Management program at The University Of California – Irvine. He has been an employee of CHC since 2002. Prior to working at CHC he operated a home Improvement/remodeling business and also worked for a large telecommunications company as the New Production Supervisor. In his spare time he enjoys kayaking, rock climbing, and competing in obstacle course races.
Director of Intensive Outpatient Services
David joined the CHC in September 2004 and has been a director since 2012. David received his M. Ed. in Community Counseling from Kent State University and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. Prior to joining CHC, he worked in substance use and mental health treatment agencies with an emphasis on adolescent substance use, adult detox and rehabilitation as well as treatment services in community-based corrections. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Jude joined CHC in February of 2018. She works closely with the Director of Development and the Administrative Coordinator of the CHC Foundation to plan events and community outreach. Jude has a BS in Advertising with a minor in Marketing from Kent State University. Prior to joining the CHC team, she worked in advertising agencies for many years, specializing in national promotional event management and project management.

Kathleen joined CHC in May 2013 as MAT Counselor, and has been serving as Director of MAT Services since July 2017. She oversees clinical staff providing services for patients enrolled in the Medication Assisted Treatment program. Kathleen has a Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Walsh University, and is licensed as a professional clinical counselor with supervisory endorsement by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Her previous experience includes responding to psychiatric emergencies in an emergency room setting, crisis residential care for those with mental health and co-occurring disorders, and outpatient mental health counseling. However, her passion remains helping those with opioid use disorder recover with the help of medication assisted treatment, which has been her focus since 2010. In her free time, she enjoys family and friends, music, writing, and a good cup of tea.

Maureen returned to CHC in February 2017. She previously worked at CHC from 1997 to 2013. She oversees the Women’s Recovery Program, Touchstone Supportive Housing and Partial Hospitalization, and the M.O.M.S Program with the help of program coordinators for each division. She provides administrative and clinical supervision to professional and para-professional staff. Maureen received an M. Ed. in Community Counseling from Kent State University and is an LPCC-S and LICDC-CS. Throughout her career she has worked in social services with an expertise in gender-specific programming and trauma informed care for women recovering from substance use disorders and mental health. She is currently the Co-Vice Chair of the Ohio Women’s Network. She has been a tireless advocate for issues of health and empowerment. In her spare time, she enjoys spending with her family and is an avid music fan.

Jim joined CHC in March of 2012. He runs the Billing Department and oversees Medical Records and Food Service departments. Jim has an MBA from the University of Akron and a BS in Hospitality and Food Service Management from Kent State University. He has been involved in the food service industry for most of his career. Jim has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 30 years, and has 2 adult sons. He loves cooking, and is interested in healthy eating, and enjoys spending time with friends from church.

Lauren Munk is an OCPC (Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant) first and an LSW (Licensed Social Worker) second. She has been in the prevention field for over 15 years. She has a degree from The Ohio State University and University of Akron. Lauren originally wanted to be a probation/parole officer, got into the field and decided that was not for her. She returned to school to become a social worker and fell in love with prevention and working with youth. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family climbing rocks and playing with her rats.
Tiffanie Ferguson joined the Community Health Center in 2005, where she is now the Compliance Officer for the agency. In her current role, Tiffanie handles all accreditations/licenses for the agency as well as patient grievances and performance improvement for all of our programming. Prior to CHC, Tiffanie lived in Chicago and worked with inner-city youth. She holds a M.A. in Counseling Psychology and has provided training on substance abuse issues for juvenile court, the Summit County ADM Board, and other organizations. She has also provided expert interviews regarding adolescent substance abuse issues for the Akron Beacon Journal, Channel 3 News, and other media outlets. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
